Below is the information discussed at our meeting on Tuesday, May 12…
- Police Department Updates – New staff doing well, some role changes expected soon. Details to be shared later. Sergeant Jeff Lemmons was at our meeting and gave us some updates on the Police for the past month.
- Many residents are not aware that Sabina has a curfew. It does and you need to be sure your kids know about it too.
- Kids up to 15 must be off the streets by 10:00 pm.
- Kids 15-18 must be off the streets by 11:00 pm.
- If the kids or their parents/guardians don’t heed this rule, the kids may be picked up by police and taken into custody.
- It has been suggested that bikers with eBikes in the Village and on the bike trail may have to start wearing helmets due to the speeds these bikes can travel.
- The speed limit on the bike path is 20 MPH
- Many residents are not aware that Sabina has a curfew. It does and you need to be sure your kids know about it too.
- Dumpster Days and Clinton-Fayette Friendship Trail Cleanup – Dumpster Days were held across from Sabina Park on Saturday, April 25 and Saturday, May 2 from 8:00-12:00.
- Steve from the Village was working both days and said the attendance both days was very low and disappointing. We discussed why that was the case and we decided that between E-Alerts not going out and the notices that the Village and Police posted on homes last year were why. However, there may be one more late summer. Please keep up with Village info for this.
- Trail cleanup coincides with this every year, and several residents were out cleaning up including Pat and Patrice Harris as well as Roger and Patty Starnes. Likely others not noted.
- Local Events to Share – We discussed the need for the Watch group to look for and post local events to help give residents things to do on the weekends, especially for their kids, to keep them busy and out of trouble.
- The Sabina Pool is on track to open and finally be fully online this year! Lots of work has gone into the pumps and infrastructure to ensure all is well this year. So, you can buy pool passes online or wait for the pool to open buy day passes. Best of all, pool passes issued last year when the pumps broke will be honored for this year! See the Village for more info on that.
- If you know of any local events, please share them with us?
- Sabina E-Alerts Status – Several of us on the Watch group have not been getting E-Alerts from the Village since Chastity left.
- Not sure if the issue is the notices not being sent out, or how we had been getting them. This is being investigated.
- Block Captains – Do you live in the Village of Sabina? Have you met your local Block Captain? If not, we want to meet you.
- Check this page to see who we are and try to connect with us from this site or on our Facebook page.
- July Town Hall – Our next Town Hall will be this July.
- What types of things would you like to see from the Sabina Neighborhood Watch group to help you or your family/business?
- Behavioral Health Building – The former retirement home in Sabina has been purchased by a group making it a Behavioral Health facility, but terrible water damage has held those plans up. What is the status?
- Briar’s Restaurant – We discussed the new Briar’s Restaurant that has taken over the space where Traditions used to be.
- Sounds like the food is good and the space is nice. Best of all, they are supposed to be opened until 7pm now or soon. Have you been there yet?
- Village Bike Day/Meal – Chris Breckel shared that the Village is interested in doing a Bike Path Day and pancake meal and wanted to see how the Trail Coalition might be able to support the event for kids and their families.
- Village Events and Site – The Village’s website is really getting outdated. Trust factor of Village and Council may be hurt by this.
- We are reaching out to the Village and Mayor to see if we can help.
- Memorial Day – The holiday parade and events are pending on the Village’s site, but it sounds like it won’t happen this year.
- Maybe some of the residents can get with the village to see if we can do another car show? Last year’s show was fantastic!
The work that the Sabina Neighborhood Watch does is for the Village of Sabina, OH. That likely means we serve for you. What can we do for you, your home or your business? We need support and we need information to help make the Village safer, more prosperous, and more enjoyable to live in. Try to join our next meeting?
