The Neighborhood Watch group meeting notes from March 10, 2026 are below:
- We bid farewell to former Chief Joe Noland for his work and service to the Village of Sabina, OH. We gave him some cards and gifts to thank him.
- We welcomed new Chief Joe Voshall (pronounced voe-shall) to the Village as our new Chief of Police and we got to learn about his work and educational history. He has quite a resume!
- Former Chief Joe Noland gave some updates on things around the Village…
- Tuesday, August 4, 2026 Sabina will once again celebrate National Night Out with fireworks, music and hotdogs. Per the website on this, they say, “National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.”
- Parking tickets around the village will be getting enforced soon. There is going to be a soft launch of this program to give residents a warning, then there will be a requirement for residents to step up.
- Alta Fiber is once again doing work around the village, and they have a reputation for poor quality work, or their contractors do.
- New Chief Joe Voshall said that the Police Department has hired two full-time and two part-time officers and are trying to hire one more full-time officer if they can get budgeting support so there is always overlap coverage for staff and for residents.
- Still trying to get the new Sabina Neighborhood Watch signs up again this year.
- A new restaurant will be opening where Traditions was and are supposed to have longer hours than the previous restaurant did! They are supposed to open the beginning of April (hopefully).
- We discussed the issues with the trains stopped at crossings in Sabina, Wilmington, and Court House and what might be done to fix the blocked crossings. The IORY is saying the issues is the direction they are now pulling freight is not easy to keep out of the intersections compared to before.
- More “dumpster days” are coming (hopefully) in April again. The Village received a $1,200 check for these this year. More info to come.
- The Village is still working on getting the new water meters installed that can be read wirelessly, but going slow.
- Part of the Village’s water issues are due to the EPA shutting down some of our wells which made what we had much harder to provide water from. That and our aging water tower are issues. Pump issues too at both the water plant and the sewer treatment plant.
- We asked the Police Department about issues in village that the NW could offer help for.
- The water and sewer issues in Sabina have been a hot topic for all of us residents. We want to help provide information on this when we can.
- We asked about issues that might have been reported by residents that the NW can help with.
- The Village, the Police Department and members of the NW have all reached out to the railroad and Port Authority about the rough crossings in town at North Borum, SR 729, Vine, College and Hulse Streets. All of us have gotten feedback from the railroad regarding the crossings and that they have plans to work on them when asphalt businesses are open.
If you have any questions about the items above, or want to see what you can do to help support the Sabina Neighborhood Watch, please reach out to us on this site or on our Facebook page. Please share the work we are trying to do for Sabina if you would?
