Roger attended the Sabina Village Council meeting tonight (July 23, 2026) and below are some of the main things discussed. The Neighborhood Watch group tries to stay close to Village conversations and decisions. These are his personal notes, so if he errs on anything, please let him know.
In attendance: Chris, Charlie, Jeff, Danielle, Jonathan, Ashton, Tony, Amy and Peggy.
- Mike Bosier has resigned from Council. Info to come on filling his seat. Interested? Contact Mayor Danielle Johnson.
- Public comments on some houses in Village that are encased in weeds, trees, or plants and asked about Village taking action to remedy.
- Applications for Autumn in Eden fall festival open for vendors. Once again, contact Mayor Danielle Johnson.
- House Building Permit approved for Councilwoman Sloan.
- 4″ water main break and then gas line break discussed and grants applied for this and major water line break that happened on June 24, 2026.
- Report by Clinton County EMA on June water main break and recent Lee’s Creek EF0 tornado that impacted Sabina, OH with straight line winds.
- Police and Village serving residents with tall grass letters. If not dealt with on time, the Village mows and the cost for the mowing is assessed via Village taxes. So keep your lawn mowed!
- The Sabina, OH emergency siren supposedly failed during the EF0 tornado last week. Village Adminstrator, Jonathan McKay said that in all of Clinton County, emergency sirens are all triggered from the Wilmington Police, not by town or village. Ours gave the ‘all clear’ but did not go off when the tornado warning went off. This is being investigated.
- Did you know that the siren test on the first Saturday of the month has all those odd sounds for a reason? Each sound indicates a different type of emergency. So each sound is different. I tried to find a good video showing what each sounds like, but didn’t find one. Got a link? Share it with me!
- Charissa brought up issue with a recent Village Police Auction regarding the debts owed by the previous owner(s) and the impact on buyers. She solicited more help from Council for this as this.
- Building Permits ARE required for major work on homes and structures in Sabina. Before you start building, check with the Village to be sure you have approval for the work. Costs are very low!
- Jeff noted that the National Night Out will once again be held by Sabina, OH on August 4, 2026.
- Peggy said there will be a Labor Day Parade in the Village of Sabina, but time and location are still being planned.
- Peggy also shared that the firehouse has been doing a lot more runs than normal for this time of year and that they have a new security camera installed at the station to watch the property.
- Amy said that the Grill and Chill event planned for tomorrow night at the Sabina Pool had to be cancelled due to a mix of rain, heat and Ph levels. They will try to reschedule soon and make sure they are open ASAP.
- Thanks were given to the many residents of Sabina who picked up and brought American flags to the Village to be put back up on poles. It was also noted how quickly Steve jumps into action to deal with fallen flags, flooded roads and fallen trees or limbs. Not sure how many people know how much this man does, but it is a lot!! - Jonathan is set to meet with Altafiber about the issues with their road work, bad and broken boxes in many of the yards of residents, and in finally getting service (and not problems) to the Village of Sabina.
