10/14/25 Meeting Notes

The things discussed at our October meeting are listed below…

  1. Sabina Fall Festival – Takeaways? Issues? Wins? Concerns?
    • The event was very well attended and was very fun to be at. Great food vendors, great vendors selling things, the car show was fantastic, the band was great, so were the dancers. Well done, Sabina!
    • A number of former residents of Sabina visited the event from nursing homes in Washington Court House
  2. 2025 Christmas Around Sabina Town – Sharing and support?
  3. Block Captains – Efforts on connecting with residents in blocks you manage?
    • Still need to connect with neighbors
  4. Residents of the Month – We are looking to highlight people around the village who do good things for others. Could be at the Dollar Store, the grocery store, a gas station, a neighbor, someone on the road, someone on the bike trail, or just anyone in town doing nice or helpful things. Then promoting them on the Neighborhood Watch site.
  5. Town Hall Meeting – Our next Town Hall meeting is scheduled for January 20th at 7pm at the COVE.
  6. Tri-shaw Bike – Roger shared that the Clinton Country Trail Coalition currently has 2 tri-shaw bikes for taking elderly or those who can’t walk out for rides on their bike path. These bikes are available to anyone who signs up to ride in one, and they are driven by certified drivers to be safe. He is trying to get one for Sabina, but will require storage space and drivers.
  7. Neighborhood Watch Discount – We discussed getting businesses in and around Sabina to offer a 5% discount to patrons if they mention the Sabina Neighborhood Watch to help promote both the business and the Watch efforts.

Since Sabina’s Chief of Police meets with the Neighborhood Watch group, and we with him, he often shares things that he and the Sabina Police Department are doing or promoting. These things are the following…

  1. K9 – The department’s K9 and handler were in Indiana this week for training.
  2. Intern – The department is on their 3rd intern currently as they work to better understand the role and involvement with the police department. They are working with other local departments too.
  3. Christmas Tree – There will be a Christmas Tree lighting in the village on December 1st.
  4. Election Signs – Please be sure your election signs are no in the right of way or line of sight for motorists trying to check for oncoming traffic.
  5. Shop with a Cop – On December 17, the Sabina Police will once again participate in the Shop with a Cop program. You can see the image for this event below.
    • There are 5 kids selected from Clinton County schools
    • Kids get up to $150 per child to use for gifts
    • School Resource Officer is the one who selects the kids
  6. Next Cleanup – The next dumpster day for village residents to do some clean-up will be in April 2026.

I hope this information shows residents that we are trying to find ways to make this village safer, healthier and more beneficial for you and your friends and family. But we can use your help! Join us for a meeting, share our website or Facebook page, and let your block captains know when you have issues that may not require the police.

Thanks!
Roger Starnes
